霜月, we’re searchin the village in the mountain of Nagano, night is really dark, we’re going slowly, few snow start to fall, some dear irrpting on the road , surprising us. In the middle of this wild nature, an unfinished concrete highway. Surrealistic, it’s like the spirit of the Nature stopped it.
We’re going to a shinto matsuri in a little of village, those ancient traditions inspired Hayao Miyazaki [宮崎駿] for his chihiro anime.
12 hours of dance, singing, young people going naked to the river of the mountain, calling the demons,expel them. This matsuri, is to give energy during the winter to all the inhabitants of the village.
